Walks (Short)

Leader/Coordinator: Kate Pigden

Aims and Objectives of the group: To walk for health and fitness. To make friends, laugh and enjoy the passing seasons. To walk 5 or 6 miles but to begin with shorter walks.

Any expertise needed: To be able to walk 3 or 4 miles in the surrounding countryside.

Equipment needed (rough costs if any): Walking boots or well cleated stout walking shoes (trainers don’t really have enough grip). Practical walking clothes (jeans are not recommended as they can cause severe chilling and chaffing if they get wet).
A small rucksack to carry water, a snack, wet weather gear, extra clothing, cameras, binoculars etc.
Walking poles optional.

Maximum number permitted in the group: 15

Location, day and time of meetings: Various, 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, 9:30am.
A brief description of a typical meeting: Walks are aimed at 3 or 4 miles within a half hour’s drive of Dunstable (lifts can be arranged). They are pre-planned and pre-walked by members of the group. Halfway round the group stops for rest and refreshments. Some members finish the walk at a nearby pub or cafe.
